PROFILE OF THE NEW PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AND PRE-PKSF
PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

1. Alternative
Development Initiatives
Alternative Development Initiatives started its program in 1993.
It has been registered as a voluntary social welfare and development
organization under the voluntary social welfare organization ordinance
of 1961, under the foreign donation regulation ordinance of 1978
and under the societies registration act (XXI) of 1860. The operational
area of the organization covers 103 villages of 27 unions of Magura
Sadar, Mahammadpur and Srepur thanas under Magura district, Madhukhali
thana under Faridpur district and Chandina thana under Comilla district.
The main activities of this PO include group formation and awareness
building, savings mobilization and microcredit operation, research
on development of sustainable aqua culture project, agriculture
technology transfer project, organic agriculture through improved
land use practices and sanitation program.
It has organized 5,613 members in 313 groups. It has disbursed Tk.
5,30,53,701.00 among its group members and its loan outstanding
is Tk. 96,05,443.00 among 3,735 members. The field level loan recovery
rate of the PO is 99.09%
Mrs. Mohsen Ara Runa is the Executive Director of the organization.
2. Rural Organization for Social Affair
(ROSA)
Rural Organization for Social Affair (ROSA) started its program
in 1988 as a voluntary social service and development organization
and got registration from the Directorate of Social Welfare in 1992.
It was also registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau in 1996.
The working area of this organization covers 36 villages of 3 unions
under Lalpur thana of Nator district. Its development program includes
group formation and awareness building, voluntary savings, microcredit
program, training, adult education and rehabilitation program. The
PO has organized 1297 members in 109 groups. The volume of savings
mobilized by the group members is Tk. 6,40,753.00. It has disbursed
Tk. 66,53,500.00 among its group members. Its loan outstanding at
the field level is Tk. 15,44,783.00 and rate of loan recovery is
98.97%.
Mr. Md. Atikur Rahman Mridha is the Executive Director of the organization.
3. Ahead Social Organization (ASO)
Ahead Social Organization (ASO), Joypurhat got registration from
the Directorate of Social Welfare in 1999 as a voluntary social
services and development organization.
The area of operation of the organization spreads over 16 villages
of 3 unions of Sadar, Kalai and Khetlal thanas under Joypurhat district.
The main activities of this PO include group formation and awareness
building, voluntary saving, sanitation etc. It has organized 557
members in 26 groups. It has disbursed Tk. 23,23,800.00 among its
group members and its loan outstanding is Tk. 8,58,800.00. The loan
recovery rate is 99.3%.
Mr. Matinur Rahman is the Executive Director of the organization.
4. Coast Trust
Coast Trust, previously known as Bhola Project of Action Aid Bangladesh,
came into being in 1997. It was registered under the Trust Act 1882
in 1997. The working area of the PO covers 337 villages of 64 unions
in 9 thanas under Bhola and Cox’s Bazar districts. It has
a total of 32 branches. In Cox’s Bazar 3738 members have been
organized in 159 groups who received a total of Tk. 92,30,000/-
as loan. Loan outstanding at the field amounts to Tk. 47,05,048/-.
It has maintained the rate of loan recovery above 99%. Its Savings
outstanding stands at Tk. 31,57,080/-.
Mr. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury is the Chief Executive of the organization.
5. Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha
Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha, a voluntary social services and development
organization was established in the year 1997 in the district of
Bhola. It was registered with the Directorate of Social welfare
in June, 1998. The working area of the organization covers 9 villages
of 5 unions of Bhola Sadar thana. A total of 422 members have been
organized in 35 groups under its credit program. An amount of Tk.
19,97,500 has been disbursed through its credit program. Loan outstanding
in the field is amounting to Tk. 4,69,787. Savings outstanding stands
with the organization now Tk. 296370. The loan recovery rate is
98.33%. Considering its potentials in credit program and saving
mobilization, it was accepted as a partner organization in the Pre-PKSF
project on September 24, 2001.
Mr. Zakir Hossain Mohin is the Executive Director of the organization.
6. Samonnito Samaj Unnayan Sangstha
Samonnito Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, a voluntary social services and
development organization was established in the year 1990 in the
district of Barisal. It was registered with the Directorate of Social
welfare in November, 1992. The working area of the organization
covers 35 villages of 6 unions and 57 paras of 10 wards at the Pouroshava
area of Barisal Sadar. A total of 3098 female members have been
organized in 194 groups under its credit program. An amount of Tk.
11264300 has been disbursed through its credit program. Loan outstanding
in the field is amounting to Tk. 30,82,322.
Mr. Anwar Zahid is the Executive Director of the organization.
7. Rupgonj Artha-Samajik Unnayan Samity
(RASUS)
Rupgonj Artha-Samajik Unnayan Samity (RASUS), a voluntary social
services and development organization was established in 1992 in
the district of Narayangonj. It was registered with the Department
of Social Welfare in March, 1993. The working area of the organization
covers 8 unions of 4 thanas in Dhaka and Narayangonj districts.
A total of 1,694 members have been organized in 69 groups under
its credit program. An amount of Tk. 1,88,17,540/- has been disbursed
through its credit program. Loan outstanding in the field is amounting
to Tk. 23,83,110/-. Savings Outstanding stands with the organization
now Tk. 23,68,814/-. The loan recovery rate is 98.85%.
Secretary General of the Executive Committee Mr. Joynal Abedin Bhuiyan
is the Chief Executive of the organization.
8. Shataphool Bangladesh
Shataphool Bangladesh started its progam in 2000. It has been registered
as a voluntary social welfare and development organization and gat
registration from the Directorate of Social welfare in 2001.
The working area of this organization covers 17 villages of Jahanabad
union under mohonpur upazila of Rajshahi district. Its development
program includes group formation and awareness building, voluntary
savings, microcredit, training, sanitation and aforestration. The
PO has organised 443 members in 34 groups. The volume of savings
mobilized by the group members is Tk. 1,99,775/-. It has disbursed
Tk. 7,44,000/- among its group members. Its loan outstanding at
the field level is Tk. 3,66,737/- and loan recovery rate 100%.
Mr. Md. Nazim Uddin Mollah is the Chief Executive of the organization.
9. MOUSUMI
MOUSUMI started its progam in 1988 as a voluntary social service
and development organization. It has been registered as a voluntary
social welfare and development organization under the voluntary
social welfare organization ordinance of 1961 and under the foreign
donation ordinance of 1978.
The operational area of the organization covers 17 villages of 4
union under 1 upazila of Bogra District and 3 upazila of Natore
district.
The main activities of this PO include group formation, awareness
building, voluntary savings, non-formal primary education, sweeper
welfare, IFADEP 1 & 2 – UPVGD (Union Parishad Vulnerable
Group Development) Program, Mousumi free eye clinic etc. It has
organized 491 members in 33 groups. The volume of savings mobilized
by the group members is Tk. 4,57,175/-. It has disbursed Tk. 34,76,000/-
among its group members. Its loan outstanding at the field level
is Tk. 12,66,905/- and loan recovery rate is 100%.
Mr. S. K. M. Maznu-nul Haq is the Chief Executive of the organization.
PROFILE OF THE PRE-PKSF PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS
1. Gono Kallayan Sangstha (GKS)
Gono Kallayan Sangstha (GKS) started its development programs in
1985 and got registration from the Directorate of Social welfare
in 1986 as a voluntary social welfare organization.
The working area of the organization covers 27 villages of 8 unions
of Tarash thana and 15 villages of 4 unions of Raigonj thana in
Sirajgonj District. A total of 2,835 members have been organized
in 131 groups. It has disbursed Tk. 55,01,188.00 at the field level.
The loan recovery rate is 98.96%. Savings outstanding stands with
the organization now Tk. 27,70,532.00.
Mr. Khandokar Salim Jahangir is the Chief Executive of the organization.
2. Samannita Unnayan Seba Sangathan (SUSS)
Samannita Unnayan Seba Sangathan (SUSS), a voluntary social services
and development organization was established in 1994 in the district
of Tangail. It was registered with the Directorate of Social Services
in April, 1994. The working area of the organization covers 11 unions
of 2 thanas in Tangail district. A total of 3,352 members have been
organized in 238 groups under its microcredit program. An amount
of Tk. 3,49,89,500/- has been disbursed through its credit program.
Loan outstanding in the field is amounting to Tk. 77,39,297/-. Savings
outstanding stands with the organization now is Tk. 35,95,818/-.
The loan recovery rate is 99.52%.
General Secretary of the Executive Committee Mr. Topon Kumar Gun
is the Executive Director of the organization.
3. Social Advancement Through Unity (SATU)
Social Advancement Through Unity (SATU), a voluntary social services
and development organization was established in 1992 in the district
of Tangail. It was registered with the Directorate of Social Services
in March, 1992. The working area of the organization covers 43 unions
of 6 thanas in Tangail and Gazipur districts. A total of 14,524
members have been organized in 740 groups under its microcredit
program. An amount of Tk. 12,51,50,628/- has been disbursed through
its credit program. Loan outstanding in the field amounting to Tk.
2,67,01,203/-. Savings outstanding stands with the organization
now is Tk. 1,28,18,068/-. The loan recovery rate is 98.26%.
General Secretary of the Executive Committee Mr. Mirza Shahadat
Hossain is the Executive Director of the organization.
4. Sachetan
Sachetan, a voluntary social services and development organization
was established in the year 1981 in the district of Rajshahi. It
was registered with the Directorate of Social Services in May, 1984.
The working area of the organization covers 99 villages of 11 unions
of 4 thanas. A total of 5151 members have been organized in 264
groups under its microcredit program. An amount of Tk. 2,06,19,500/-
has been disbursed through its credit program. Loan outstanding
in the field is amounting to Tk. 6,18,395/-. Savings outstanding
stands with the organization now Tk. 36,55,567/-. The loan recovery
rate is 98.33%. Considering its potentials in credit program and
saving mobilization, it was accepted as a partner organization in
the Pre-PKSF project on September 30, 2002.
Mr. Md. Hasinul Islam is the Executive Director of the organization.
5. Focus Society
Focus Society a voluntary social services and development organization
was established in the year 1999 in the district of Bogra. It was
registered with the Joint Stock Companies in January, 1995. The
working area of the organization covers 25 villages of 7 unions
of Bogra Sadar and Gabtoli thanas. A total of 568 members have been
organized in 38 groups under its microcredit program. An amount
of Tk. 30,03,000/- has been disbursed through its credit program.
Loan outstanding in the field is amounting to Tk. 9,28,901/- and
loan recovery rate is 99.98%.
Mr. Md. Monirul Islam is the Executive Director
of the organization.
