PROFILE OF THE NEW PARTNER
ORGANIZATIONS AND PRE-PKSF PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS
(January, 2003 to December, 2003)

1. Atmabiswas
Atmabiswas started its programme in 1988. It was registered under
the Directorate of Social Welfare in 1994, the NGO Affairs Bureau
in 1997, and the Directorate of Family Planning in 1997.
The operational area of the organization covers 62 villages of 10
union under four upazilas of Chuadanga District.
The main activities of this PO include group formation, awareness
building, voluntary savings, non-formal primary education, training,
sanitation etc. It has organized 4088 members in 171 groups. The
volume of savings mobilized by the group members is Tk. 3.02 million.
It has disbursed Tk. 40.02 million among its group members. Its
loan outstanding at the field level is Tk. 6.6 million and the loan
recovery rate is 99.23%.
It was enrolled with PKSF as a PO on 2nd of March in the 114th Board
Meeting. Mr. Md. Akramul Haq Biswas is the Chief Executive of the
organization.
2. Community Development and Health Care Centre (CDHC)
Community Development and Health Care Centre (CDHC) started its
programme in 1997. It has been registered as a voluntary social
welfare and development organization under the Directorate of Social
Services in 2002. The operational area of the organization covers
14 villages of 4 unions of Golachipa upazilla under Patuakhali district.
The main activities of this PO include group formation and awareness
building, savings mobilization and microcredit operation, health
& sanitaton project. It has organized 404 members in 22 groups.
It has disbursed Tk. 18,99,000 among its 238 group members and its
loan outstanding is Tk. 4,69,263. The field level loan recovery
rate of the PO is 99.48%
It was accepted as a PO on 29th of June in the 116th Board Meeting.
Mr. Dilip Narayan Bhunyan is the Executive Director of the organization.
3. Development Organization of the Rural Poor (DORP)
Development Organization of the Rural Poor started its programme
in 1990 in Dhaka as a voluntary social service and development organization.
It was registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau in 1993, under the
Foreign Donation Regulation Ordinance of 1978.
The operational area of the organization covers 359 villages of
43 unions under 12 upazilas 8 Districts. The main activities of
the PO include group formation and awareness building, savings mobilization
and microcredit operation, training programme, housing, non-formal
education and aforestation.
It has organized 13,624 members in 712 groups. It has disbursed
Tk. 17,40,52,800 among its group members. Its loan outstanding at
the field level is Tk. 2,42,59,418 and rate of loan recovery is
93.38%.
It was enrolled with PKSF as a PO on December 31, 2003 in the 120th
Board Meeting.
4. Social Advancement Through Unity (SATU)
Social Advancement Through Unity (SATU), a voluntary social services
and development organization was established in 1992 in the district
of Tangail. It was registered with the Directorate of Social Services
in March 1992 and it also got registration from NGO Affairs Bereau
in 1993. The working area of the organization covers 43 unions of
6 upazillas of Tangail and Gazipur districts. The main activities
of this PO include group formation and awareness building, savings
mobilization and microcredit operation and non-formal Education
programme. A total of 19,058 members have been organized in 863
groups under its microcredit programme. Loan outstanding among 11,263
borrowers is Tk. 3,39,63,857. The loan recovery rate is 99.15%.
It was enrolled with PKSF as a PO on 29th of June in the 116th Board
Meeting. Mr. Mirza Shahadat Hossain is the Executive Director of
the organization.
5. Sachetan
Sachetan, a voluntary social services and development organization
was established in the year 1981 in the district of Rajshahi. It
was registered with the Directorate of Social Services in May 1984
and it also got registration from NGO Affairs Bereau in 1997. The
working area of the organization covers 99 villages of 11 unions
of 4 upazillas under Rajshahi district. The main activities of this
PO include group formation and awareness building, savings mobilization
and microcredit operation, Health & Sanitaton project, and Environmental
development. A total of 4,759 members have been organized in 260
groups under its microcredit programme. Loan outstanding among 3,331
borrowers is Tk. 69,68,306. The loan recovery rate is 99.79%.
It was recognized as a PO on 9th of August in the 117th Board Meeting.Mr.
Md. Hasinul Islam is the Executive Director of the organization.
6. Samannita Unnayan Seba Sangathan (SUSS)
Samannita Unnayan Seba Sangathan (SUSS), a voluntary social services
and development organization was established in 1994 in the district
of Tangail. It was registered with the Directorate of Social Services
in April 1994. The working area of the organization covers 11 unions
of 2 upazillas of Tangail district. The main activities of this
PO include group formation and awareness building, savings mobilization
and microcredit operation. A total of 4,493 members have been organized
in 283 groups under its microcredit programme. Loan outstanding
in the field is Tk. 1,03,73,338 among 3,459 borrowers. The loan
recovery rate is 99.57%.
It was accepted as a PO on 9th of August in the 117th Board Meeting.
Mr. Tapan Kumar Goon is the Executive Director of the organization.
PROFILE OF THE PRE-PKSF PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS
1. Proyas Manobik Unnayan Society
Gono Kallayan Sangstha (GKS) started its development programmes
in 1994 and got registration from the Directorate of Social welfare
in 1996 and from the Joint Stock Companies “under the Societies
Registration act XXI of 1860” in 2000 as a voluntary social
welfare organization. The working area of the organization covers
42 villages of 7 unions under 2 upazillas of Chapainawabgonj District.
A total of 1,881 members have been organized in 85 groups. It has
disbursed Tk. 88,03,750 at the field level. Loan outstanding among
1,115 borrowers is Tk. 22,66,274/50. The loan recovery rate is 100%.
It was accepted as a Pre-PKSF PO on 2nd of March in the 114th Board
Meeting. Mr. Hasib Hossain is the Executive Director of the organization.
2. ALWO (Access Toward Livelihood and Welfare Obsession)
ALWO (Access Toward Livelihood and Welfare Obsession), a voluntary
social services and development organization was established in
2001 in the district of Natore. It was registered with the Directorate
of Social Services in May 2001. The working area of the organization
covers 33 villages of 7 unions of 2 upazillas of Natore district.
A total of 505 members have been organized in 33 groups under its
microcredit programme. An amount of Tk. 44,11,500/- has been disbursed
through its credit programme. Loan outstanding in the field is Tk.
16,86,493 among 384 borrowers. The loan recovery rate is 98.56%.
It was recognized as a Pre-PKSF PO on 23rd of April in the 115th
Board Meeting. Mrs. Shamima Laizu Nila is the Executive Director
of the organization.
3. ASHRAI
ASHRAI, a voluntary social service and development organization,
was established in 1990 in the district of Rajshahi. It was registered
with the Directorate of Social Services in January 1990 and also
got registration from NGO Affairs Bereau in 1991. The working area
of the organization covers 2056 villages of 87 unions of 21 upazillas
of Rajshahi, Chapainawabgonj, Naogaon, Jaipurhat & Dinajpur
districts. The main activities of this PO include group formation
and awareness building, savings mobilization and microcredit operation,
sanitaton project and agriculture programme. A total of 60,858 members
have been organized in 3,390 groups under its microcredit programme.
An amount of nearly Tk. 16,80,00,000/- has been disbursed and loan
outstanding among 37,741 borrowers is about Tk. 5,10,50,000. The
loan recovery rate is 92.80%.
It got recognition as a Pre-PKSF PO on 29th of June in the 116th
Board Meeting. Dr. Ahsan Ali is the Executive Director of the organization.
4. Society For Voluntary Activities
Society For Voluntary Activities, a non-profit social services and
development organization, was established in the year 1999 in the
district of Jhenaidah. It was registered with the Directorate of
Social Services in 1999. The working area of the organization covers
11 villages of 2 unions/wards of 2 upazillas under the district
of Jhenaidah. A total of 323 members have been organized in 21 groups
under its microcredit programme. An amount of Tk. 28,92,000/- has
been disbursed through its credit programme. Loan outstanding in
the field is Tk. 5,83,583/-. The loan recovery rate is 95.46%.
It was accepted as a Pre-PKSF PO on 9th of August in the 117th Board
Meeting. Dr. Golam Mustafa is the Chairman of the organization.
5. Community Development Centre of Bangladesh (CDCB)
Community Development Centre of Bangladesh (CDCB), a voluntary social
services and development organization, was established in the year
1968 in the district of Pirojpur. It was registered with the Directorate
of Social Services in March 2002 and it also got registration from
NGO Affairs Bereau in the same year. The working area of the organization
covers 16 villages of 6 unions of 3 upazillas of Pirojpur district.
The main activities of this PO include group formation and awareness
building, savings mobilization and microcredit operation, health
& nutrition project and sanitation programme. A total of 472
members have been organized in 30 groups under its microcredit programme.
An amount of Tk. 21,33,244 has been disbursed through its credit
programme. Loan outstanding in the field is Tk. 6,97,274 and loan
recovery rate is 98.82%.
It was accepted as a Pre-PKSF PO on 26th of September in the 118th
Board Meeting. Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain is the Executive Director
of the organization.
6. Socio-Economic Development Action Programme (SEDAP)
Socio-Economic Development Action Programme (SEDAP), a voluntary
social services and development organization was established in
the year 2001 in Manikganj district. It was registered with the
Directorate of Social Services in 2001. The working area of the
organization covers 14 villages of 4 unions of Singair upazilla
of Manikganj district. The main activities of this PO include group
formation and awareness building, savings mobilization and microcredit
operation and arsenic programme. A total of 305 members have been
organized in 20 groups under its microcredit programme. An amount
of Tk. 4,49,000 has been disbursed through its credit programme
and loan outstanding in the field is Tk. 2,37,280. Cumilitive Loan
recovery rate is 94.90%.
